It’s been less than a year since the voco brand was launched, but Inter Continental Hotels Group recently just signed an agreement that’ll see the launch of the brand in Southeast Asia, right in the capital of Thailand.
The new property, a new Sukhumvit Hotel, the voco Bangkok Sukhumvit 11, will open in 2021, with B&G Park Company Limited set to handle management responsibilities for the property. It’ll offer 300 guest rooms in the middle of the popular Sukhumvit area, a wide range of food and entertainment options, as well as easy access to the rest of Bangkok via the nearby Nana BTS Station.
Other accommodations for the new property include all-day dining, a rooftop restaurant and bar, a swimming pool with a poolside bar, and a fitness centre. There’s also meeting facilities on the property, with the largest room capable of holding 200 guests.
The voco brand was recently unveiled earlier in June 2018, and is inspired by the Latin word meaning ‘to invite’. The brand sports the aesthetics and the atmosphere of an individual hotel, while being backed by the quality of a globally respected brand. The signing of the new voco Sukhumvit Hotel comes hot on the heels of the recent opening of the world’s first voco hotel; voco Gold Coast in Australia, which opened in November 2018.
Managing Director for Southeast Asia & Korea for IHG, Clarence Tan spoke on the matter, saying that, with Bangkok being the world’s most visited destination, it’s an excellent market to act as a launching point for one of the newest additions to the IHG portfolio. He adds that this recent signing continues the growth of the voco brand since its June launch, and that IHG is excited to expand the brand’s operations across the region.
The owner, B&G Estate Co., Ltd., is a local Bangkok company that owns and operates retail and corporate properties, and is currently working to grow its portfolio. Theprit Srichawla, the company’s Managing Director, stated that they’re excited to work with IHG, a trusted partner, to launch the first voco property in Southeast Asia. He says that this new Sukhumvit Hotel will appeal to professionals and leisure-seekers alike who a vibrant, sustainable and dependable choice, and they’re confident that the property will be well-received when it opens for guests in 2021.
