When Oprah Winfrey went looking for a private investigator who could teach her audience members how to locate lost friends and family, her producers did a newspaper search. Since I was in the papers 52 times per year -- and my fellow PIs, maybe once or twice -- I got the job. The Oprah exposure got notice from producers from other shows like Larry King Live, 20/20, Montel Williams, Sally Jessie Rafael, Hard Copy, etc., etc., as well as publications like Newsweek, Vanity Fair, People magazines, Entrepreneur, etc. etc. etc. All this snowballed from the syndication of my local column.
